Volleyball wraps up home season

The Hamilton College volleyball team closed out a six-match homestand Wednesday night, losing in three sets to the visiting SUNY Polytechnic Wildcats. The Continentals, who were playing their last home contest of the season, are now 6-9; SUNY Polytechnic improved to 15-10 by winning 28-26, 25-18, 25-17. 

In the first set, the Continentals rallied from an early deficit to take a 12-11 lead on consecutive aces by Kendall Searcy '20. Hamilton fought off three set points by the visitors before the Wildcats clinched the win.

Hamilton was led by Kyndal Burdin '18, who recorded her 21st career double-double, posting team-leading totals of 27 assists and 13 digs. She also contributed three blocks. Erin Donahue '18 finished with 11 kills to pace the hosts. Margaret O'Brien '18 – whose five blocks were a team-best total – added nine. Christine Zizzi '18 had 12 digs.

The Wildcats received 13 kills and 11 digs from Emma Larson. Finella Campanino led the visitors with 14 digs and Melissa Krak had 11. Sydney Johnson recorded 36 assists.

Hamilton travels to Massachusetts this weekend to play in the Hall of Fame Induction Tournament at Smith College. The Continentals play the first of their three matches Friday, taking on the host school at 7:30 p.m.
