Colby rallies for volleyball win

The Hamilton College volleyball team (1-8, 0-1 NESCAC) dropped a four-set match to visiting Colby (4-5, 1-0 NESCAC) Friday. The Continentals won the first set 25-20 before the Mules rallied to win the next three (32-30, 25-20 and 25-23) in the NESCAC opener for both schools.

Courtney Somerville '16 led Hamilton with career-best totals of 15 kills and six blocks. She hit .375 for the match. Brenna Corrigan '14 added a season-high 13 kills.

Anna Brown '15 was the Continentals' leader in digs (29) and service aces (four). Corrigan contributed 20 digs with Emily Rosen '15 adding 17. Sarah Pfund '14 – who led the team with 25 assists – and Jamie Granskie '16 finished with 15 apiece.

The Mules were led by Kate Pleasants '14, who totaled 26 assists and 13 digs. Kim Donaldson '16 finished with 16 kills and three blocks and Anna Clifford '14 recorded 29 digs. Natalie Roy '15 collected 20 digs and 10 kills.

The Continentals play a pair of non-league matches Saturday at Oswego, facing Alfred State and the host Lakers.
