Women's cross country places 10th at Williams meet

The Hamilton College Continentals finished 10th out of 14 teams at the 2019 Williams College Cross Country Purple Valley Classic at Mount Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown, Mass., on Saturday.

Brigit Humphreys '21 led the team in 39th place out of 160 runners, finishing with a 6-kilometer time of 24:37.7. Sabrina Gornisiewic of nationally ranked No. 8 Tufts University finished first with a time of 22:44.2.

Natasha Lane '21 finished second for the Continentals in 50th place overall with a time of 25:05. Liza Greene '22 was next in 58th place with a time of 25:16.7. Courtney Brunet '20 followed in 71st place in 25:47.5. Close behind was Katie Jenkinson '23, who finished 73rd with a time of 25:49.4. In sixth place for Hamilton was Haley Driscoll '21 with a time of 26:09.5. Maisie Merz '21 rounded out the Continentals' top seven in 26:34.8.

Hamilton finished with 244 team points while Tufts took home the team title with 60 points. Fourth-ranked Williams finished a close second with 68 points and edged No. 5 Massachusetts Institute of Technology and their 72 points. No. 10 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute finished fourth with 103 points and No. 19 Middlebury College was fifth with 134.

The Continentals will run again on Saturday, Oct. 5, when they host the Hamilton Invitational.
