Women's cross country ties for 9th at NESCAC Championship

The Hamilton College Continentals tied for ninth place out of 11 teams at the 2018 NESCAC Women's Cross Country Championship held at Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday morning.

Grace Heller '19 led Hamilton in 16th place out of 140 runners with a time of 23:13.3 on the 6-kilometer course. Brigit Humphreys '21 was next for the Continentals in 43rd place with a time of 24:00.3, Andy Uribe '19 ended up 54th in 24:16.3, and Mia Schiel '22 landed in 60th place with a time of 24:20.9. Kristen Bitsberger '22 rounded out Hamilton's top five in 73rd place and a time of 24:40.7.

Hamilton tied with Trinity in the team standings with 226 points. Nationally ranked No. 5 Middlebury captured the team title with 47 points and No. 13 Williams was runner-up with 73. No. 15 Wesleyan finished third with 84 points, No. 7 Tufts took fourth place with 124, and No. 26 Bates was fifth with 128.

The Continentals are off next weekend and get back on the course on Saturday, Nov. 10 in the NCAA Division III Atlantic Region Championships at Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J.
