Berry '19 collects NESCAC women's track & field award

Hamilton College's Cat Berry '19 (Mansfield, Ohio/Western Reserve Academy) was voted the winner of the Sabasteanski Award as the Most Outstanding Female Performer at the 2019 NESCAC Men's and Women's Track & Field Championships on Tuesday, April 30.

Berry is the first female Sabasteanski Award winner from Hamilton. She competed in four events at the conference championships, which were held at Middlebury College's Dragone Complex on April 27, and finished first in three of them.

Berry posted a winning time of 25.60 seconds in the 200-meter dash and captured first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.22 seconds, which was eight-tenths of a second ahead of the runner-up. She won the 200 meters for the second year in a row. She also helped the Continentals take the top spot in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 49.31 seconds. Berry earned all-conference honors for all three events. She was also part of a 4x400-meter relay that ended up seventh in 4:11.62.

Berry holds program outdoor records in the 100-meter dash, the 200 and the 400, and is part of a record 400-meter relay. She and her teammates compete in the Lock Haven University Qualifier on Saturday, May 4.
