Women’s track & field finishes top-3 in nine events in own invite

The Hamilton College Continentals finished in the top five in 15 events, including nine top-three finishes, in the non-team scoring 2019 Hamilton Outdoor Invitational at Pritchard Track on Saturday.

Cat Berry '19 led the way with a top-finish time of 25.83 seconds in the 200-meter dash and followed with a second-place time of 58.63 in the 400 meters. Diamond Jackson '21 posted a personal-best time of 26.19 seconds and finished third in the 200 meters. Marie Steiner '20 finished third in the 400 meters (1:00.40) and fourth (26.26 seconds) in the 200 meters.

Grace Heller '19 and Mary Lundin '19 earned the top spots in their respective events. Heller posted a time of 18:19.39 in the 5,000-meter run and Lundin crossed the finish line in 2:17.35 in the 800 meters.

One week after recording a time of 48.26 seconds that shattered the 11-year-old program record in the 400-meter relay by 1.10 seconds, McKela Kanu '22, Berry, Steiner and Jackson finished second with a time of 49.02 seconds. Hamilton's "B" relay of Kyandreia Jones '19, Caitlin McHugh '20, Lundin and Willa Rose '19 placed fifth with a time of 52.75 seconds.

Hamilton also placed second in the 3,200-meter relay with Brigit Humphreys '21, Liza Greene '22, Mia Schiel '22 and Natasha Lane '21 posting a time of 10:09.05.

Leigh Gelotte '19 guided the field events with a third-place leap of 1.50 meters in the high jump, and Andrea Shipton '22 tied for fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.16 meters.

Katie Cronin '21 finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:13.07) by erasing more than seven seconds off her personal-best time, and Andy Uribe '19 finished in 10th place (12:45.85).

Kyandreia Jones '19 and Emma Liles '21 placed sixth in their hurdle events as Jones finished the 100 in 16.68 seconds and Liles finished the 400 in 1:11.07. Liles also placed ninth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.91 seconds), and Gelotte placed seventh in the 400-meter hurdles (1:11.28).

Hamilton competes at SUNY Cortland's Friday Night Under the Lights Invite on Friday, April 12 starting at 3 p.m.
