Women’s tennis starts Florida trip with 7-2 win over Illinois Tech

The Hamilton College Continentals won five of six singles matches and defeated the Illinois Institute of Technology Scarlet Hawks 7-2 in a non-conference match at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Florida, on Wednesday.

Hamilton (2-1 overall) has a busy schedule on Thursday, March 21 as the Continentals take on Bethel University at 11:30 a.m. and Colorado College at 6:30 p.m. at the USTA National Tennis Center.

Hamilton's Jane Haffer '19, Ajla Karabegovic '21 and Kat Roberts '22 won their singles and doubles matches.

After losing the first set 6-3 at second flight singles, Audrey Chor '21 came from behind to win by scores of 6-3 and 10-8. Karabegovic made quick work of her opponent at fifth flight singles, posting scores of 6-0 and 6-0. Becca Ingber '22 won in straight sets at sixth flight singles and Sarah Bargamian '22 was paired up with Haffer at third flight doubles.

The Scarlet Hawks (14-4) had won seven of their last eight matches.
