Women's tennis knocks off ranked Colby in NESCAC match

The Hamilton College Continentals won three singles matches that went to three sets and they defeated nationally ranked No. 40 Colby College in a NESCAC match played inside Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Saturday.

The Continentals evened their overall and conference dual match record at 1-1. Hamilton travels to Florida and will take on Illinois Institute of Technology on Wednesday, March 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona.

Hamilton's Kat Roberts '22 and Ajla Karabegovic '21 won their singles and doubles matches. They teamed up for an 8-6 triumph at second flight doubles and have four wins as a doubles pairing. Roberts has six victories after a three-set triumph at fourth flight singles and Karabegovic owns five thanks to a win at fifth flight singles. Karabegovic dropped the first set but recovered and captured the second and third.

Sophia Aulicino '21 defeated the 29th-ranked singles player in Division III in straight sets at first flight and has eight wins this season. Audrey Chor '21 also has eight victories after she outlasted her opponent at second flight singles. Jane Haffer '19 has 29 career singles wins after recording a straight-set victory at third flight.
