Logan '20 leads women's swimming & diving at NESCAC meet

The Hamilton College Continentals competed in the 2019 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championships at Wesleyan University's Natatorium on Friday.

Sadie Logan '20 owned the top performance for Hamilton by finishing in second place in the consolation final (10th overall) of the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 27.03 seconds. Later Friday night Logan led off the 400 medley relay with a time of 58.01 seconds in the opening split of the 100 back -- good for second place on the program's top 10 times list. She also tied for 10th place on the top times list in the 50 freestyle as she posted a time of 25.06 seconds during a time trial after the morning's preliminary heats.

The Continentals placed a pair of swimmers in the 200 individual medley preconsolation final. Meredith Gioia '22 was seventh (23rd overall) with a time of 2:12.36 and Jillian Rhodes '22 was eighth (24th overall) in 2:13.15. Both swimmers put themselves in the top times list with their performances in the morning's preliminary heats. Rhodes is fourth (2:11.55) and Gioia is seventh (2:12.31).

Kenzie Burton '22 landed in eighth place in the preconsolation final (24th overall) of the 50 butterfly with a time of 26.90 seconds. Burton was slightly faster in prelims in 26.68 seconds.

Lucy Hamann '22 led off Hamilton's 400 medley B relay with a swim that put her in the 100 back top times list. Hamann's time of 58.53 seconds is good for fourth place on the list.

In diving Sarah Pickup '19 ended up 16th in the 1-meter springboard with 281.30 points, and Carolyn Gevinski '22 was 21st with 240.05 points.

The third day of the championships gets underway with the preliminary heats at 10 a.m. followed by the finals at 5:50 p.m.
