Three swimmers win events in women's dual meet at RPI

Hamilton College swimmers finished first in three events in a dual meet against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at RPI's Robison Pool on Saturday afternoon.

The Continentals finished the regular season with a dual meet record of 3-6 after the loss at RPI. Hamilton is off until the 2019 NESCAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Wesleyan University. The four-day meet begins on Thursday, Feb. 14.

Patricia Shiebler '21 captured first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:22.33 and was third in the 500 free in 5:38.96. Madeleine Lepesant '19 took the top spot in the 200 butterfly (2:15.87) and Lucy Hamann '22 touched the wall first in the 100 fly (1:00.67). Hamann was also the runner-up in the 200 backstroke (2:10.83).

Julia Martin '21 recorded a trio of top-three finishes. She grabbed second place in the 100 free with a time of 56.23 seconds and was third in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.29) and the 200 individual medley (2:18.47).

Sadie Logan '20 landed in second place in the 200 free (2:00.56) and was third in the 200 back (2:12.06) behind Hamann. Kenzie Burton '22 finished second in the 200 fly (2:17.64) behind Lepesant. Karly Leiman '22 placed second in the 100 fly (1:01.76) behind Hamann. Meredith Gioia '22 ended up third in the 100 back (1:01.54). 

In diving Sarah Pickup '19 was runner-up in the 1-meter springboard with 198.70 points.
