Hamilton College women's rowing will open the 2018 fall season against Colgate University in the annual Bridge to Bridge Regatta on the Erie Canal in Rome on Saturday, Sept. 29.

Racing starts at 9:30 a.m. with the varsity 8 as head coach Rob Weber begins his fifth season on The Hill. Hamilton is scheduled to compete in the Head of the Genesee (Oct. 6), Head of the Charles (Oct. 20-21) and Head of the Schuylkill (Oct. 27) later on this fall. The spring schedule, which begins in March, is highlighted by the New York State Collegiate Championships and the National Invitational Rowing Championships in early May.

The Continentals just missed out on an NCAA championships bid in 2018 after they were considered to be one of the top Division III programs for much of the spring. Hamilton's varsity 8 was ranked eighth in the last coaches poll but reached as high as No. 4 in late April. The Continentals' varsity 8 was second in the final NCAA regional rankings, and their second varsity 8 and overall team were No. 1 in the New York Region.

The varsity 8 was solid right from the start of 2017-18 after they won gold at the Head of the Genesee and silver at the Head of the Schuylkill. Hamilton's top boat went on to finish first five times and collected a silver medal at the New York State championships in the spring. The Continentals concluded the season by taking first place in the varsity 8 petite final and sixth place in the second varsity 8 grand final at the National Invitational Rowing Championships.

Ann-Sophie Koglin '20 leads the 17 returners on the 2018-19 roster. Koglin was voted a second team all-American in 2018 and made the all-NESCAC team for the second time in her collegiate career. She is the program's fourth all-American and Hamilton women's rowing seventh overall selection to the all-America team.

Koglin, Perrin Salewood '21, Danielle Schuman '19 and coxswain Rachel Sutor '20 are back from last year's varsity 8 lineup. Pauline Santry '21, Katherine Buckley '21, Gretchen Dowdy '21, Julia Hartnett '20, Adriana Jonas '21 and coxswain Carson Goos '21 were all part of the second varsity 8 a season ago. They will be joined by 14 newcomers on the roster this fall, and two more rowers will be added to the program in January 2019.

The Continentals defeated Union College in the varsity 8 for the Gilman Plate and bested St. Lawrence University for the Women's V8 Cup in separate races last April. Hamilton earned the Gilman Goblet for its second varsity 8 win over Union.
