Jerry Tine is in his 16th season coaching the pole vault and high jump event athletes as an assistant on the track & field staff at Hamilton College. He also mentored the horizontal jump event athletes in recent years. Since Tine joined the coaching staff in 2002, seven indoor and outdoor men's and women's program records have been set in the pole vault and the high jump.

In 2014 Tine guided Yuwen Michelson '17 to Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) indoor all-conference honors for the long jump. He coached Hannah Jaiven '14 to NESCAC and New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) all-conference outdoor honors for the pole vault in 2013. The NYSCTC award was her second. Jimmy Alexis '13 collected NYSCTC all-conference indoor honors and made the all-NESCAC team for finishing first in the pole vault at those championship meets in 2013.

Akilah Bond '09 earned a pair of all-America honors in the triple jump as she finished seventh at the 2007 and 2009 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships under Tine's guidance. Bond qualified for the indoor and outdoor NCAA meets in the triple jump in 2008.

Tine coached James Russell '09 to four NESCAC pole vault titles at the conference championships. Muriel Schwinn '13 was all-NESCAC for the long jump in 2010 and picked up 2012 NYSCTC all-conference indoor honors for the long jump.

Tine has more than 20 years of collegiate and high school coaching experience. He is an accredited USA Track & Field Level I coach and serves as the New York State coach for the USATF Olympic Pole Vault Development Committee.
