Michelle Murphy joined the Hamilton College men's and women's golf coaching staff as an assistant in August 2018. Murphy was a member of the LPGA Tour in 1998, 2000 and 2001, and she was a two-time winner on the LPGA Futures Tour (now the Symetra Tour). She has played in nine women's U.S. Open championships and was one of two women who qualified for and competed in the 50th PGA Professional Championship in 2017.

The 2014 and 2015 Central New York PGA assistant player of the year currently is a golf instructor at The Skenandoa Club in Clinton. Murphy has also been the head PGA professional at Oswego Country Club and a PGA professional at the Turning Stone Resort in nearby Vernon.

A native of Tacoma, Wash., Murphy was the head men's and women's coach at Division I University of Portland from 2004 to 2011. The Portland golf programs hosted the West Coast Conference championship at Chambers Bay Golf Course in 2008. She has a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of New Mexico.
