The Hamilton College Continentals dropped a 2-1 NESCAC decision in overtime to the Amherst College Mammoths on Friday evening at Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink.

Amherst's (10-9-2, 6-5-2 NESCAC) Jamie McNamara scored 2:40 into the sudden-victory overtime period to snap the Mammoths' four-game losing streak. Hamilton dumped the puck into Amherst's zone but Jocelyn Hunyadi immediately threw the puck back up the boards to Kaitlin Hoang who backhanded a pass up to McNamara at the red line. McNamara outraced the defender for a free shot on goal and tucked the puck inside the near post.

Gab Venne '22 finished with 25 saves for Hamilton while Amherst's Caitlin Walker made 26 stops.

Hamilton (12-7-2, 6-5-2) jumped out to a 1-0 lead 7:58 into the first period. Missy Segall '21 won the faceoff to the right of Walker and dropped the puck back to Nancy Loh '22 at the top of the circle. Loh passed to Kelli Mackey '20 at the point and she immediately found Segall waiting in the near corner. Segall skated along the goal line and lifted the puck into the upper-left corner of the net.

Hunyadi tied the score less than 40 seconds later. Emma Flynn dug the puck out of the right corner and sent a centering pass to Hoang who one-touched the puck over to Hunyadi for an open-net goal at 8:35.

Hamilton and Amherst face off again on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. to complete the two-game NESCAC series.
