Women's golf places 4th in NESCAC Championship at Middlebury

Hamilton College finished in fourth place out of seven teams at the 2018 NESCAC Women's Golf Championship on Sunday.

The two-day, 36-hole tournament was held at Middlebury College's Ralph Myhre Golf Course in Middlebury, Vermont, on Oct. 6 and 7. Ralph Myhre GC plays to a par of 71.

The Continentals posted a four-person team score of 336 after they recorded a 335 on Saturday and ended up with a tournament total of 671. Williams College captured the team title with a team score of 643, Amherst College was runner-up at 650, and Middlebury landed in third place at 663.

Sophia Archos '21 led Hamilton on Sunday with an 81 and finished 14th out of 37 golfers at 170 for the championship. Archos was in 20th place after the first round. Libbie Warner '19 carded an 83 and finished 16th at 173 for the weekend.

Celia Lau '21 was next with an 85 and she tied for third place with a career-best 160 for 36 holes. Lau fired a collegiate-best 75 on Saturday for the Continentals' lowest round of the tournament. Emily Moy '22 shot her second straight 87 and finished 17th at 174. Winda Wanikpun '20 was another shot back in a tie for 18th place at 175.

Hamilton will be back on the course in the spring of 2019.
