Four Hamilton College Continentals and first-year head coach Stephanie Hartquist were honored on Thursday, May 9 when the NESCAC announced its 2019 end-of-season softball all-conference team and awards.

Emily Fraser '20 (Houston, Texas/Episcopal HS) was voted to the all-conference first team and Morgan Hartranft '22 (West Newton, Mass./Noble and Greenough School), Kendall Searcy '20 (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood Park HS) and Ashleah Yzaguirre '19 (Studio City, Calif./Marlborough HS) were placed on the second team. All four are on the all-conference team for the first time.
Hartquist was selected the 2019 NESCAC Softball Coach of the Year and is the first Hamilton head softball coach to receive that award. She guided the Continentals to an overall record of 28-10 that nearly doubled the program record for wins in a season. Hamilton finished in second place in the NESCAC West Division with a 7-5 division record and advanced to the postseason for the first time in team history. The division finish and seven victories are the best performances for the Continentals in softball. The team leads the NESCAC in runs, hits, triples, total bases, hit by pitch, batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage.
Fraser started 37 games in the outfield. She is in the top 10 in the conference in runs (36), hits (50), doubles (11), runs batted in (35), total bases (69), stolen bases (14), batting average (.417), on-base percentage (.481) and slugging percentage (.575). The run and RBI totals are team records. She posted a fielding percentage of .982 and committed just one error in 57 total chances with three outfield assists.
Hartranft made 27 appearances including 15 starts in the pitching circle, and she leads the NESCAC with program records of 13 wins and five saves. The rookie sensation is also in the conference's top 10 in complete games (6), shutouts (3), innings pitched (108.0), strikeouts (85), strikeouts per game (5.51) and earned run average (2.07). Her season was highlighted by a five-inning no-hitter in an 11-0 win against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on March 21. She was named the NESCAC Pitcher of the Week on April 15 and March 25.
Searcy started 36 games in the infield. She is in the top 10 in the conference in runs batted in (27) and on-base percentage (.439), and is 11th with 40 hits and a .374 batting average. She is fourth in the NESCAC with 73 assists and was part of 10 double plays.
Yzaguirre appeared in the starting lineup 37 times at catcher, first base and designated player, and is one of two players on the roster that appeared in all 38 games. She leads the conference with a team-record 51 hits and is third with three triples, sixth with 66 total bases and a .395 batting average, 11th with a .436 on-base percentage, and 12th with 27 runs and 25 runs batted in. She was selected the NESCAC Player of the Week on April 8.
