Wright breaks own men's 800 meter facility record at Utica track & field invite

Hamilton College men's track and field finished seventh out of 21 teams with 41 points at Utica College's Blue and Orange Invitational on Saturday at the Todd and Jen Hutton Sports & Recreation Center.

SUNY Cortland took the team title with 131 points, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute placed second with 84 points and Ithaca College was third with 76 points.

Lucas Wright '21 broke his own facility record in the 800-meter run with an All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Indoor Championships qualifying time of 1:55:53 to win the event. Wright's old facility record of 1:55.93 was set on Feb. 2, 2019.

Ty Kunzman '20 won the weight throw with a mark of 17.64 meters (57 feet, 10.5 inches).

The distance medley relay of Rafael Osella '23, Christian Ovalles '23, Matthew Sinning '23 and Jed Katzenstein '23 placed third with a time of 11:38.69. The College of St. Rose won the DMR with a time of 11:28.91.

Andrew Harrell '23 placed third in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:52.42 while Conor Courtney '20 finished sixth in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 2:49.87.

Corey Jones '23 took seventh in the 200-meter dash in 23.01 seconds and Josh Harmsen '23 finished seventh in the 60-meter dash finals in 7.22 seconds. Harmsen recorded a slightly faster time of 7.21 seconds in the preliminary heats.

Hamilton is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Colgate University's Class of '32 Invitational.
