Wright ’21 wins title at NESCAC track & field championships

The Hamilton College Continentals finished eighth in the team standings at the 2019 NESCAC Men's and Women's Track & Field Championships on Saturday at Middlebury College's Dragone Complex.

Lucas Wright '21 won the conference title in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.45. The top three finishers in all individual and relay events at the conference meet earn all-NESCAC team honors. His season-best time of 1:52.27, achieved last Saturday at the University of Rochester, is the fourth-fastest performance in NCAA Division III this year. Hamilton's Peter Kosgei '11 owns the championship record (1:50.44) and the program record (1:48.72).

Hamilton's 400-meter relay took sixth place with the quartet of Ryan Sedwick '19, Will Richardson '21, Sam Robinson '20 and Jake Bolster '19 recording a time of 44.10 seconds. Richardson, Bolster, Hugo Frost '22 and Wright placed seventh in the 1,600-meter relay (3:29.92).

Robinson took fourth place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.01 seconds and he finished seventh in the 100-meter dash in 10.87 seconds. In the 400-meter hurdles, Richardson crossed the finish line in 57.54 seconds for fifth place. Bryce Murdick '20 ran a 10,000-meter time of 32:21.28 and placed eighth.

The Continentals travel to SUNY Cortland for the 2019 All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Outdoor Championships on Wednesday and Thursday, May 15 and 16.
