Kunzman '20 breaks own men's school record in weight throw

The Hamilton College Continentals finished in third place out of 10 teams at the 2019 Colgate University Class of 1932 Indoor Invitational at Sanford Field House on Saturday.

Hamilton racked up 114 team points, which was just one fewer point than runner-up Ithaca College's total. Colgate was the team champion with 154 points.

Ty Kunzman '20 eclipsed his own school record in the 35-pound weight throw with a winning distance of 17.63 meters. Kunzman was also fifth in the shot put at 11.78 meters. Hugo Frost '22 was runner-up in the triple jump with a mark of 12.76 meters.

Lucas Wright '21 was a double winner as he captured first place in the 800-meter run (1:57.27) and the mile run (4:27.27). Bryce Murdick '20 pushed Wright in the mile as Murdick finished less than a second behind in second place with a time of 4:27.94.

Ryan Sedwick '19 led the sprinters in third place in the finals of the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.30 seconds and ended up fifth in the 200-meter dash in 23.79 seconds. Will Richardson '21 set a personal record in the 400-meter dash and took second place with a time of 51.41 seconds. Frost was fifth in 53.28 seconds and Jake Bolster '19 landed in eighth place with a time of 53.51 seconds. Aaron Kraus' '21 winning time of 1:08.24 in the 500-meter dash was a personal best.

Chris Skeldon '20 claimed third place in the 3,000-meter run (9:11.62) and Nick Lyon '22 grabbed fifth place (9:20.87).

The Continentals compete in Cornell University's Marc Deneault Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 16.
