Hamilton College's Lucas Wright '21 recorded a trio of top-10 finishes for men's track & field at the 2019 Utica College Pioneer Open held at Utica's Hutton Sports and Recreation Center on Saturday.
The Continentals placed 11th out of 15 teams. RPI -- ranked 13th in the Atlantic Region -- won the team title. Hamilton is ranked 24th in the region.
Wright captured second place in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.60, just .05 seconds shy of first. He finished ninth out of 50 runners in the mile run with a time of 4:31.65 as RPI's Grant O'Connor took first place with a facility record (4:18.55). Wright also anchored the 1,600-meter relay that recorded a fourth-place time of 3:31.53. Will Richardson '21, Jake Bolster '19 and Hugo Frost '22 joined Wright on the relay.
Richardson finished fifth in the 400 meters with a season-best time of 52.06 seconds, Bolster finished 11th (53.04) and Frost's time of 53.21 placed him 12th. In an 800-meter field of 56 runners, Colin Horgan '19 and Aaron Kraus '21 finished 11th (2:03.33) and 13th (2:03.80), respectively.
Chris Skeldon '20 smoked his previous personal-best mark of 16:12.80 in the 5,000-meter run with a career-best of 15:49.81. Ty Kunzman '20 led the field events with a seventh-place distance of 15.11 meters in the 35-pound weight throw.
Hamilton heads back to Utica College on Saturday, Feb. 2 for the Blue and Orange Invitational at 10:30 a.m.
