Saucier '18 paces men's track & field on first day at regionals

Hamilton College's Eli Saucier '18 qualified for the men's 100-meter dash final on the first day of the 2018 All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Outdoor Championships at SUNY Brockport's Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium on Wednesday.

Saucier, who holds the school record in the 100 meters, posted the fastest time of the preliminary heats at 10.71 seconds. He will race in the 100-meter final on Thursday, May 17 at 3:25 p.m.

The Continentals had two of the top eight finishers in the men's 5,000-meter run. Henry Whipple '18 landed in fifth place with a time of 15:33.87 and Peter DeWeirdt '18 ended up in eighth place in 15:45.60. Erich Wohl '18 took fourth place in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:45.57 as all three athletes wrapped up their exceptional Hamilton careers.

Ty Kunzman '20 was 16th in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 40.58 meters (133 feet, 2 inches).

After Saucier's 100-meter race, Lucas Wright '21 will compete in the 800-meter run at 3:55 p.m. on Thursday. Will Richardson '21 follows in the 400-meter hurdles at 4:30 and Saucier returns to the track for the 200-meter dash at 5 p.m.
