Hamilton College's Rob Dotterer '21 won both of his singles matches and advanced to the third round of the main draw at the 2019 ITA Division III Men's Northeast Regional Championships on Friday.

The tournament is being held at the Hobart/William Smith Tennis Center and Bristol Field House in Geneva, N.Y. Dotterer, who is one of the top 16 seeds in the 64-player draw, will take on Skidmore College's Suraj Mahtani on Saturday morning.

Dotterer cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Nazareth College's Nathan Allen in the first round and outlasted the University of Rochester's Yifan Shen, 3-6, 6-0 and 11-9 in a third set super-tiebreaker in the second round. Dotterer and Matt Bartok '23 were one of the top eight seeds in the doubles draw but dropped an 8-2 decision against a Skidmore pair in the first round.

Bartok was a 6-2, 6-2 winner against St. John Fisher College's Dustin McCullough in the first round of the singles draw. Bartok was knocked out in the second round by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Yudai Teruyama, 6-0, 6-2. Teruyama, like Dotterer, is one of the top 16 seeds.

Eric Stein '23 put up a fight against Skidmore's Jack McClaren, who is one of the top eight seeds, in the first round of singles play. McClaren was a 6-1 winner in the first set but Stein forced a third set super-tiebreaker with a 7-6 (7-3) decision in the second set. McClaren prevailed 10-3 in the super-tiebreaker.
