Men's tennis defeats Union, rolls to ninth consecutive win

Hamilton College won all three singles matches that went to three sets and the Continentals posted a 6-3 non-conference victory against the Union College Dutchmen at the Union Tennis Courts on Thursday.

Hamilton (9-1 overall) has won its last nine matches after opening the spring with a loss at nationally ranked No. 2 Middlebury College. The Continentals are 18th in the Oracle/ITA Division III Northeast Region Men's Rankings. Hamilton hosts No. 4 Bowdoin College in NESCAC action on Saturday, April 13 at 11 a.m.

Max Zimmerman '21, Joe Reiner '22 and Danny Tsyvin '22 won their singles and doubles matches for the Continentals. Zimmerman recorded his 24th career singles win with a three-set triumph in first flight action. He teamed up with Tsyvin as they edged their Union opponents at second flight doubles. The duo owns a team-best doubles record of 14-4. Tsyvin prevailed at sixth flight singles after dropping the first set and maintained a perfect record in dual matches at 3-0. 

Reiner also lost his first set at fourth flight singles but rallied to win the next two and improved his record to 16-2. Reiner and Lars Scannell '19 moved to 3-0 as a doubles pairing after they edged their opponents in third flight action. Scannell is 7-0 in doubles play this spring.

Sam Farber '20 was a winner in straight sets at second flight singles. Farber has six victories this spring and 31 in his Hamilton career.
