Three Hamilton College men's tennis players advanced to the second round of the singles draw at the 2018 ITA Division III Northeast Regional Championships in Geneva, N.Y., on Friday.

The tournament is being held at the Hobart/William Smith Tennis Center and Bristol Field House. Doubles results were not available as of late Friday night.

Hamilton's Joe Reiner '22 improved his singles record to 8-0 this fall with a three-set win in the first round against Ithaca College's Colten Lavery (3-6, 6-2, 10-5). Reiner fell in the second round to the top seed in the singles draw -- Skidmore College's JT Wynne -- in straight sets (6-1, 6-2).

Max Zimmerman '21 posted a 6-0, 7-5 triumph against Ithaca's Liam Spiegel in the first round before he was eliminated in a tough, three-set match in the second round. The College of New Jersey's Justin Wain, who is another seeded player, outlasted Zimmerman 6-4, 0-6, 10-7.

Tim Derby '21 moved on to the second round after University of Rochester's Isaiah Volk retired after the second set. Derby and Volk split the first two sets (4-6, 7-5). Derby was knocked out in the second round by second-seeded Sebastien Castillo-Sanchez of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (6-1, 6-0).

Rob Dotterer '21 nearly pulled off the upset of eighth-seeded Clay Thompson as Dotterer extended the RPI player to three tense sets (6-2, 4-6, 11-9) in the first round. Danny Tsyvin '22 dropped his first round match against Vassar College's Adam Krueger (6-3, 6-3).
