Men's swimming defeats Wesleyan in dual meet

Hamilton College swimmers captured first place in 10 events and the Continentals posted a dual-meet victory against Wesleyan University at Wesleyan's Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.

Hamilton improved its record to 2-1 in dual meets this season with the 158-113 decision. The Continentals take on Colby College at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., on Sunday, Jan. 6 at noon.

Nick Wilkins '22 finished first in three individual events and helped the 100-yard medley relay to another win. Wilkins topped the field in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:50.11, won the 50 breaststroke in 28.27 seconds, and touched the wall first nearly five seconds ahead of the runner-up in the 100 individual medley with a time of 55.99 seconds. Wilkins, Jordan Allen '19, Alexander Clark '22 and Jack Sullivan '22 recorded a time of 47.44 seconds in the 100 medley relay.

Allen grabbed first place in the 25 backstroke with a time of 12.99 seconds and was a close second in the 50 back in 27.22 seconds. He joined Sullivan, Sandro Mariani '22 and Jesse Bennett '19 on a winning 100 free relay that registered a time of 42.53 seconds.

Bennett boasted triumphs in the 500 free (5:06.47) and the 25 breast with a time of 12.94 seconds. Clark was a winner in the 50 free with a time of 23.34 seconds and was second in the 25 butterfly in 11.62 seconds and the 50 fly in 25.16 seconds.

Mariani took first place in the 25 free with a time of 10.78 seconds and Sullivan was second in 10.87 seconds. Mariani finished close behind Clark in the 50 free with a time of 23.45 seconds. Will Brindisi '22 ended up second in the 500 free (5:09.42) and Michael Peebles '22 landed in third place out of 10 swimmers in the 200 free (1:53.99).
