Men's squash finishes NESCAC Championship with two victories

The Hamilton College Continentals won both of their consolation round matches in the 2020 NESCAC Men's Squash Championship at Bowdoin's Lubin Family Squash Center on Saturday.

Hamilton (9-10 overall) is the 10th seed for the championship. The Continentals edged No. 11 seed Wesleyan University 5-4 in the morning and defeated No. 9 seed Connecticut College 8-1 in the afternoon. Hamilton finished the weekend with a tournament record of 2-1.

Rufus Somerby '22 won both of his matches at the third position. He recovered from a two-game deficit to defeat his Wesleyan opponent in five games. Tristan Chaix '20 and Aaron Hadar '23 were double winners at the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.

William Jordan '20 was victorious at the seventh position against Wesleyan and triumphed at the eighth position against Connecticut College. Jordan leads the Continentals with 12 wins.

Nicholas Conzelman '20 won the first two games at the sixth position in his Wesleyan match and then held on for the five-game victory. Tate Suratt '23 allowed just 13 points in sweeping his Conn. College opponent at the first position and Callum Sondhi '20 also won in three games at the second position. Tripp Peters '23 outlasted his Conn. College opponent in five games at the seventh position and Oliver Constable '22 was triumphant in four games at the ninth position. The Continentals lost 7-2 at Conn. College on Jan. 17.

Hamilton will take to the court again on Friday, Feb. 28 for the College Squash Association National Team Championships at Harvard University.
