Men's squash wins three of four matches at home over the weekend

The Hamilton College Continentals won the last three matches they played at their own Little Squash Center on Feb. 1 and 2.

Hamilton (7-9 overall) dropped an 8-1 decision to Colby College on Saturday afternoon before the Continentals defeated Hobart College 7-2 later that day. Hamilton cruised to 9-0 victories against Vassar College and Colgate University on Sunday afternoon. The Continentals are 28th in the latest College Squash Association Team Rankings while Colby is 23rd and Hobart is 35th. Vassar is 45th in the rankings and Colgate is 52nd.

Aaron Hadar '23 was the only Hamilton player who won all four of his matches during the weekend. Hadar played three matches at the fifth position and was at the fourth position against Colgate as he improved his win total to seven matches this season.

Callum Sondhi '20 was a three-time winner at the first and second positions, and Tristan Chaix '20 did the same at the third and fourth positions. Nicholas Conzelman '20 posted three wins at the fifth and sixth positions, and Tripp Peters '23 evened his season record at 8-8 with three victories at the sixth and seventh positions.

William Jordan '20 continues to lead the team with 10 wins after he recorded three triumphs at the seventh and eighth positions. Rufus Somerby '22 was a winner against Colgate at the second position and against Vassar at the third position. Oliver Constable '22 captured a pair of matches at the ninth position and owns an 8-7 record. Tate Suratt '23 swept his Vassar opponent in three games at the first position and Jarrod Gerstein '20 and Owen Routhier '23 picked up their first wins this season as they defeated their Colgate opponents in three games at the eighth and ninth positions.

Sondhi, Chaix, Conzelman, Jordan and Gerstein were honored during a senior recognition ceremony before Saturday's Colby match.

The Continentals compete in the 2020 NESCAC Women's Squash Championship at Bowdoin College next weekend. The three-day event gets underway on Friday, Feb. 14 against an opponent to be determined.
