Men's squash posts victories over Wesleyan and Denison

The Hamilton College Continentals defeated Denison University and Wesleyan University and fell to Amherst College in western Massachusetts on Jan. 25 and 26.

Hamilton (4-8 overall) posted a 7-2 victory over Wesleyan on Saturday night and breezed to a 9-0 win over Denison on Sunday. The Continentals -- 29th in the College Squash Association Team Rankings -- dropped a 9-0 decision against Amherst on Saturday afternoon. Amherst is 22nd in the rankings, Wesleyan is 28th and Denison is 40th.

Seven Hamilton players won two out of three matches during the weekend. Tate Suratt '23, who was playing at the first position, nearly pulled off a perfect weekend as his lone loss was in five games against Amherst. Suratt swept his Wesleyan opponent in three games and was up two games-to-one when his Denison opponent retired from the match.

Tristan Chaix '20 and Aaron Hadar '23 prevailed in three games against their Denison and Wesleyan opponents at the fourth and fifth positions, respectively. Nicholas Conzelman '20 (sixth position) and Tripp Peters '23 (seventh) were extended to four games in their matches against Wesleyan. William Jordan '20 (eighth) and Oliver Constable '22 (ninth) recorded two triumphs apiece as well. Jordan surrendered just seven points to his Denison opponent and leads the team with seven wins. Constable is right behind Jordan with six victories.

Callum Sondhi '20 collected his 31st career win by sweeping his Denison opponent at the second position. Rufus Somerby '22 outlasted his Denison opponent in five games at the third position.

The Continentals host Colby College at 1 p.m. and William Smith College at 4 p.m. inside the Little Squash Center on Saturday, Feb. 1.
