Men's squash edges Chatham for first win this season

The Hamilton College Continentals posted a 5-4 win against Chatham University at Franklin & Marshall College on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-match weekend in Pennsylvania.

Hamilton (1-5 overall) dropped a 7-2 decision to Dickinson College on Saturday night and fell 9-0 against Franklin & Marshall on Sunday morning. The Continentals are 29th in the College Squash Association Team Rankings while Chatham is 31st, Dickinson is 26th and the Diplomats are 12th. Hamilton travels to St. Lawrence University for a match that will start at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15.

Tate Suratt '23 won the deciding match against the Cougars. Suratt lost two of the first three games at the second position but captured the fourth by an 11-8 count and outlasted Owais Rasheed 14-12 in the fifth game. Suratt won his first match with the Continentals on Saturday against Dickinson -- also in five games.

Hamilton's other winners against Chatham were Nicholas Conzelman '20 at the sixth position, Tripp Peters '23 at the seventh position, William Jordan '20 at the eighth position and Oliver Constable '22 at the ninth position. Peters, Jordan and Constable swept their opponents in three games. Jordan also defeated his Dickinson opponent in three games thanks to a tense 16-14 decision in the last. He leads the Continentals with three victories. Peters picked up his first collegiate win and Conzelman and Constable won for the first time this season.
