The Hamilton College Continentals won 1-0 on an own goal with 49 seconds left in double overtime against the Colby College Mules in NESCAC action at Hamilton's Love Field on Saturday afternoon.

Aidan Wood '20 caught up to a lead pass in the box from Sam Dils '22 and sent a low cross from left to right in front of the goal. Before Wood's pass could find a teammate near the right post, a Colby defender tried to clear the ball over the end line, but instead it settled into the right side of the net.

Thomas Benson '22 made five saves and posted his second shutout this season and the seventh of his collegiate career. Benson dove to his left and turned away a penalty kick by Conor Larkin in the 11th minute.

The Continentals (2-5-0, 1-3 NESCAC) held an 8-7 edge in corner kicks. Hamilton hosts Utica College in a non-conference tilt on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 4:30 p.m.

The Mules (4-4-0, 1-4) haven't scored in their last three games. Colby held a 14-11 shot advantage, and Matt Morin stopped seven shots.

The Continentals had a couple great scoring chances in the extra periods. Morin came way off his line to stop a shot from inside the 18-yard box by Wood in the 99th minute. Hamilton went on the counter-attack in the 102nd minute but a hard shot by Jefri Schmidt '20 from the edge of the 18 was secured by a diving Morin.
