Pair of men's soccer players make all-NESCAC team

Hamilton College's Luke Eckels '20 (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood HS) and Aidan Wood '20 (Ipswich, Mass./Waring School) were selected for the 2018 NESCAC Men's Soccer All-Conference Team on Thursday, Nov. 8.

Eckels is on the first team for the second straight year. He was voted the NESCAC Rookie of the Year and made the second team in 2016. Wood is on the all-conference second team one year after he was voted to the first team.

Eckels was the starting center back for a defense that posted nine shutouts and a 0.69 goals against average. The Continentals allowed either one or no goals in 14 out of 17 games. The three-year starter has five points on two goals and an assist in 51 career games.

Wood scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory at Bates College and tied for the team lead with three assists. The forward picked up the assist in Hamilton's 1-0 win at Connecticut College in a NESCAC championship quarterfinal. Wood, who is another three-year starter, has 10 goals and nine assists for 29 points in 51 career contests.

The Continentals finished with a 9-7-1 overall record and landed in seventh place in the NESCAC standings with a 4-5-1 conference record. Hamilton advanced to the NESCAC championship semifinals for the third straight year.
