Middlebury College's Davis Oudet scored with 1:37 left in the second sudden-victory overtime period and lifted the Panthers to a 2-1 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Hamilton's Love Field on Sunday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, Jefri Schmidt '20 scored his first goal of the season and the ninth of his Hamilton (4-3, 2-2 NESCAC) career to give the Continentals a 1-0 lead just 4:21 into the second stanza. Jeff Plump '20 took the corner for Hamilton, sailed the ball into the goal area and Schmidt headed the ball under the crossbar.
Middlebury (3-2-1, 2-2) came back to tie the game on a corner with 6:43 remaining in regulation. Raffi Barsamian kicked the ball towards the back post where Henry Wilhem managed to head the ball through traffic and over the goal line. Oudet's game winner was also off a corner kick. Fazl Shaikh served a short ball into the goal area and Oudet headed the ball into the upper ninety for his first collegiate goal.
Thomas Benson '22 (five saves) kept Hamilton in the lead with a great save in the 55th minute when Jeremy Barovick crossed the ball into the box for Middlebury. Brandon Reid tipped the cross behind his back to Michael McFarlane for a one timer, but Benson made the sliding save and Jack Sheehan '21 cleared away the rebound.
The Continentals start a four-game road trip on Saturday, Sept. 29 when they visit Wesleyan University for a NESCAC game at 1:30 p.m.
