Hamilton College men's rowing will open the 2018 fall season against Colgate University and Clarkson University in the annual Bridge to Bridge Regatta on the Erie Canal in Rome on Saturday, Sept. 29.

Racing starts at 9:30 a.m. with the women's varsity 8, and the men's varsity 8 race begins about 10 minutes later as head coach Rob Weber begins his fifth season on The Hill. Hamilton is scheduled to compete in the Head of the Genesee (Oct. 6), Head of the Charles (Oct. 20-21) and Head of the Schuylkill (Oct. 27) later on this fall. The spring schedule, which begins in March, is highlighted by the New York State Collegiate Championships and the National Invitational Rowing Championships in early May.

Last year the Continentals captured the silver medal in the varsity 8 for their best performance in the history of the New York State Collegiate Championships. They went on to finish third in the varsity 8 and second varsity 8 petite final at the 2018 National Invitational Rowing Championships.

The varsity 8 finished first four times in the spring and collected a bronze medal at the 2017 Head of the Genesee. Hamilton topped Union College in the varsity 8 for the Gilman Cup and later bested St. Lawrence University for the Houlihan Cup last spring on April 21. The Continentals triumphed against Union in the second varsity 8 and claimed the Gilman Bowl in the process.

Hamilton will miss all-NESCAC team honoree Harry Thomas '18 but the Continentals still have Trent Pfeiffer '19, who made the all-conference team in 2017. Pfeiffer is joined by 19 other returners on the roster.

Grant Kiefaber
'19, Pfeiffer, Chris Berry-Toon '21, Thomas Marsh '20, Fred Pollevick '20, Eric Fischer '20
and coxswain Allie Duggan '20 were all on the varsity 8 lineup last spring. Nearly the entire lineup from the second varsity 8 returns this fall in Josh Hollenberg '21, Will Grimes '21, Philip Gow '21, Parker Esty '21, Jarod Estacio '21, Nick Silvestri '19, Jon Jobling '20 and coxswain Haley Raphael '20.
