The Hamilton College Continentals took on Rochester Institute of Technology in three races on Seneca Lake in Geneva, N.Y., on Saturday morning.

Hamilton (6:43.34) edged RIT (6:45.86) by 2.52 seconds in an exciting varsity 8 race. The Tigers (6:59.226) returned the favor in the second varsity 8 as they clipped the Continentals (7:00.926) by 1.7 seconds.

"The MV8 was maybe the highlight of the day in my mind, beating RIT in a really hard fought gritty race," Hamilton head coach Rob Weber said. "Neither crew could break away from the other and they battled it out the whole way down the course. We've lost some close ones to RIT the last couple of years, and to go toe-to-toe with them today and not blink is evidence of the progress we're making as a program and the maturity of our kids.

"I'm also really proud of how our 2V8 is developing; they came up just short of RIT in their race. We also boated a 'scratch' 3V8/N8 crew, who were outpaced by RIT but gave a real game performance."

The Continentals are scheduled to host St. Lawrence University, University of Rochester and Union College on the Erie Canal in Rome on Saturday, April 21.
