Hamilton College scored seven goals in the second quarter and the Continentals posted a 16-9 non-conference win against the Hartwick College Hawks on Tuesday at Hartwick's Wright Stadium.

Hamilton concluded its season with an overall mark of 5-9 and went undefeated in non-conference action. Hartwick dropped to 10-3 overall and will compete in the Empire 8 Conference playoffs for the third consecutive season. The Continentals have won eight straight games against Hartwick -- a streak that dates back to 2001.

Henry Hunt '20 guided Hamilton with two goals and three assists, and Chad Morse '19 scored three times and picked up three ground balls. Chris Conley '20, Zach Larsen '19, Charlie Ratner '22 and Ben Gardner '21 scored two goals each, and Conley and Gardner added one assist apiece. Zach Kleinbaum '19 caused two turnovers and scooped up three ground balls, and Andrej Bogdanovics '19 had three ground balls. Seamus Fagan '22 made a season-high 14 saves in his second consecutive start. Quin Crowley '22 dominated faceoffs, winning 24 of 28 and collecting 19 ground balls.

Sam Ferguson led Hartwick with two goals and a pair of assists, and Dylan Ferguson and David Demand added two tallies apiece. Kainen Francis-Thompson and Tim Watson had two assists apiece. C.J. Alesandrini stopped 14 of 30 shots on goal.

Harwick's Sam Ferguson broke the ice at the 11:43 mark of the first quarter only to have Hamilton answer 28 seconds later when Morse scored unassisted. The Hawks grabbed a 3-1 advantage after back-to-back goals at 8:13 and 3:58. Hamilton cut its deficit in half as Gardner found Hunt for a goal with 3:25 remaining in the opening quarter.

The Hawks doubled their lead again with a man-up goal just 17 seconds into the second quarter, but Hamilton quickly tied it up with two goals 40 seconds apart. The Continentals moved the ball from the left side of the attack area around to the right side and Hunt sent a quick shovel pass to Conley who ripped a shot past Alesandrini's right ear and into the nylon. Hunt then scored solo and tied the score 4-4.

After Hartwick took a 5-4 lead at 8:46, Hamilton kept the Hawks scoreless for the remainder of the quarter as the Continentals built a 9-5 lead by halftime. Henry Hill '19 tied the score with his 51st career goal at 7:44, and Ratner gave Hamilton the lead for good 1:05 later. Clay McCollum '19 extended the lead to 7-5 on his 85th goal and 108th point in a Buff and Blue uniform. Tim Sommer '22 ended the steak with his first collegiate goal with 2:12 left in the second.

Morse and Gardner scored for Hamilton in the third quarter and the Continentals moved to the final 15 minutes with an 11-7 advantage.

Hamilton outscored the home team 5-2 in the fourth quarter and ensured the victory. Gardner scored his second of the night 34 seconds into the quarter. Hartwick responded with a goal just over a minute later but Hamilton netted the next two goals at 9:15 and 7:11 for a 14-8 cushion. The Continentals closed the game with back-to-back goals by Larsen at 5:17 and Morse at 4:14.
