The Hamilton College men's hockey team will raise awareness for the Daniel Barden Mudfest prior to the Continentals' NESCAC game against Tufts University that starts at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 at Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink.

The Continentals are promoting their on-going support of the Mudfest and will wear special jerseys designed with this unique event in mind. Fans attending the game who wish to help the Mudfest may do so at a suggested donations table as well as a bake sale in the Emerson Lobby of Alumni Gym just outside the rink.

The Mudfest is an annual obstacle course race that will be held this year on Saturday, May 2 at MKJ Farms in nearby Deansboro and includes a 5-mile, 5-kilometer and a shorter kids mud run. The event is named after Daniel Barden, who was one of the first-grade students killed inside Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012. A niece of one of the organizers of this event was inside the school that day but was unharmed. The goal of Mudfest is to nurture and grow Daniel's spirit in everyone.

All proceeds from the Mudfest are donated back to several charities chosen by eighth-grade students who participate in the Barden Adventure Scholarship. Recipients range from small local organizations to larger national charities.
