Men's golf fourth after Day 1 at NESCAC championship qualifier

The Hamilton College Continentals are in fourth place out of 10 teams after the opening 18 holes of the 13th NESCAC Men's Golf Championship Qualifier at Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland, Mass., on Saturday.

The top four finishers advance to the 2020 NESCAC Men's Golf Championship scheduled for April 25 and 26. Hamilton has qualified for the spring championship eight times in the last 12 years. The Continentals start teeing off at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday and the last group hits the links at 12:06 p.m. Hamilton is playing with host Tufts University, Amherst College and Williams College.

The Continentals posted a four-man team score of 299. Williams leads the way at 291, Amherst is runner-up at 295 and Tufts is one stroke back. Middlebury College (300) and Trinity College (302) are not far behind.

Billy Geach '23 is tied for sixth place out of 50 golfers after a 1-over 73 in his first collegiate tournament. Jack McKeon '22 is tied for ninth place one shot behind Geach and Jack Habeeb '22 is another shot back in a tie for 13th place with a 75. McKeon's 74 is his career best at Hamilton. Brent Schoeller '21 carded a 77 and is tied for 25th place, and Jason Healy '22 added a 78.
