Men's golf places eighth at Skidmore tournament

The Hamilton College Continentals finished in eighth place out of 15 teams at the 2019 Skidmore College Dr. Tim Brown Men's Golf Invitational at Ballston Spa Country Club in Ballston Spa, N.Y., on April 13 and 14.

Six Hamilton golfers finished within four shots of each other on the 6,310-yard layout. The invitational was the first event for the Continentals in more than three weeks.

Milan Matneja '22 tied Hamilton's best round of the weekend with a 74 in the final round and tied for 26th place out of 87 golfers at 151. All of his rounds except for one have been in the 70s as Matneja leads the team with a 74.45 stroke average. Sam Vogel '22 fired a 74 on Saturday and was also in the group at 151 .

Jack Habeeb '22 carded a pair of 76s and tied for 30th place at 152. A dozen of Habeeb's rounds have been in the 70s. Andrew Watson '19 recorded a 76 on Sunday and was one shot behind Habeeb in a tie for 33rd place. Watson hasn't shot worse than 80 all season. Bobby Osborn '20 posted a 76 in the second round and tied for 44th at 155. Nick Schanzer '21 also tied for 44th place after rounds of 76 and 79 while playing in the tournament as an individual.

The Continentals registered a four-man team total of 304 for the first round and followed it up with a 302 for a tournament total of 606. Middlebury College and Trinity College finished at 573 and Williams College ended up a distant third at 587.

Hamilton competes in Williams' NESCAC Spring Opener at Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Mass., on April 20 and 21.
