Individual medalist Milan Matneja '22 helped lead Hamilton College to the team title of the 2018 Hamilton Men's Golf Invitational at Yahnundasis Golf Club in nearby New Hartford on Sunday.

The Continentals were tied with SUNY Oswego after the first round as both recorded four-man team scores of 301. Hamilton went even lower in Sunday's final round with a 295 for a tournament total of 596. Oswego was runner-up in the eight-team tournament at 605 and a second Continental fivesome ended up third at 619. The Hamilton men entered three teams and 17 of the 43 competitors were Continentals.

Matneja, who was playing in his first collegiate event, boasted a 1-over par 143 for the weekend. He opened with a 74 and then fired a 2-under 69 in Sunday's final round.

Amazingly, Matneja wasn't the only Hamilton golfer to break par at Yahnundasis. Sam Vogel '22 led the Continentals' second team and tied for second place overall at 144 with rounds of 69 and 75.

Hamilton's Jeremy Benjamin '19 finished alone in fourth place at 150, which was his best 36-hole performance and included a final-round 73. Andrew Watson '19 (75-78) and Brent Schoeller '21 (77-76) tied for sixth place at 153, and Jack Habeeb '22 (75-79) gave the Continentals six players in the top 10 as he tied for ninth at 154.

Tom Graham '21 (78-77) and Nick Randolph '21 (76-79) tied for 12th place at 155 and led Hamilton's third team to sixth place. Randolph's 76 on Saturday marked his collegiate-best round. Will Nocito '22 carded a 75 on Sunday and tied for 15th place at 156.

The Continentals compete in the St. Lawrence University Invitational this weekend. The tournament begins on Saturday, Sept. 8 and concludes on Sunday, Sept. 9.
