Jamie King

Jamie King arrived at Hamilton College in 2000 and was the head men's squash coach and director of racquet sports until the end of the 2022-23 season. He also served as the women's coach from 2000 to 2004 and again from 2008 until 2023. In 2021-22 the women finished fourth in the Walker Cup and the men placed third in the Conroy Cup at the national collegiate team championships. Both teams took eighth place in the NESCAC championship. The women earned the Chaffee Award for team sportsmanship from the College Squash Association. Tate Suratt '24 earned his second all-conference men's team honor and Eliana Good '24 made the all-NESCAC women's team. Fifteen of King's student-athletes received 2022 NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team recognition.

Hamilton Head Coach (2000-23)

  • Men collected the Sloane Award from the CSA in 2008, 2010 and 2023 for displaying the highest level of sportsmanship during the season
  • Women received the Chaffee Award in 2011 and 2022 from the College Squash Association (CSA) for sportsmanship, teamwork, character and improvement
  • King was the first individual honored with the Sloane Award as a player (as captain of the 1984 Williams College team) and a coach
  • Named the Jerome Gottlieb ’64 Fellow for Exemplary Coaching by Hamilton in 2022
  • Two-time NESCAC Women's Coach of the Year (2011, 2014)
  • 2012 NESCAC Men's Coach of the Year
  • 25 all-NESCAC men's and women's team selections
  • Two women's players earned 2015-16 CSA scholar-athlete honors
  • Guided the men to the 2015 Conroy Cup title
  • Women finished fifth at the NESCAC Championship in 2012 and 2014
  • Women won 15 matches in 2009-10, which is the second-highest total for one season in team history
  • Men landed in sixth place at the 2009 NESCAC Championship
  • Men won two of three matches at the 2008 team championships and finished with its highest season ranking under King at No. 19
  • Men earned the 2002 Bill Barhite Award as the most improved team after they bettered their record by 7.5 matches over the previous season

Student-Athlete at Williams College

  • Played varsity squash, tennis and soccer

  • Williams squash posted a 20-2 record and was ranked third in the nation his senior year
