Mary Kate Sisk '22 and Lexi Takashima '22 scored the first goals of their Hamilton College careers and the Continentals posted a 3-1 non-conference win against the University of Rochester Yellowjackets under the lights at Hamilton's Goodfriend Field on Wednesday night.

Rochester (12-7 overall) opened the scoring 5:09 into the first quarter on a penalty stroke. Amanda Strenk fired a shot inside the right post and past the leg of Maggie Reville '22 (7 saves) for the 1-0 advantage.

Hamilton (8-7) charged back with three unanswered goals -- all scored in the first 30 minutes -- for its fourth straight win and fifth victory in the last six contests.

Maura Holden '23 knotted the score at 1-1 with her seventh goal at 7:37 in the first quarter. Michaela Giuttari '20 raced into the left side of the arc for a shot that was denied by Kate Kujawa (10 saves), but Holden was in front of Kujawa and batted the rebound into the back of the cage.

Takashima netted the game-winner with 57 seconds remaining in the opening stanza. Keeley Duran '22 took the reset for Hamilton from the top of the arc and passed to Kiera Wax '23 along the left sideline for a centering pass. Giuttari tipped the pass into the air and Takashima tucked the bouncing ball past Kujawa.

Hamilton concluded the scoring with 6:44 to go in the second quarter. Cat Donahue '21 passed to Lizzie Clarke '20 at the top of the arc and Clarke fed the ball to Giuttari in front of the cage. Kujawa turned away Giuttari's shot but the rebound ricocheted over her right shoulder and Sisk buried the ball into the open goal.

The Continentals will compete in the quarterfinals of the 2019 NESCAC Field Hockey Championship on Saturday, Nov. 2. Hamilton (4-6 NESCAC) is the seventh seed in the tournament and travels to Brunswick, Maine, to take on second-seeded Bowdoin College (14-1, 9-1 NESCAC) at 1 p.m.
