Three field hockey players on all-NESCAC team

Three Hamilton College athletes were selected for the 2018 NESCAC Field Hockey All-Conference Team on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

2018 All-NESCAC Field Hockey Team

Michaela Giuttari '20 (Warwick, R.I./Loomis Chaffee School [Conn.]), who was the conference's 2016 Rookie of the Year, was voted to the first team for the second straight year. Lizzie Clarke '20 (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck HS) and Sarah Kane '19 (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends School) made the second team. Clarke and Kane are on the all-conference team for the first time.

Giuttari is second in the NESCAC with 16 goals and 39 points, third with five game-winning goals and ninth with seven assists. The forward posted nine goals and three assists for 21 points in 10 conference games. Her 39 points are tied for the second-highest single-season total in program history. She has 48 goals, 18 assists and 114 points in 48 career games. Giuttari is second at Hamilton in goals and third in points. She was named the NESCAC Player of the Week on Oct. 8.

Clarke scored five goals and added six helpers for 16 points in 16 starts at midfield. She also recorded a pair of game-winning goals. Clarke has 11 goals and 12 assists for 34 points in 48 career games.

Kane led the Hamilton defense to three shutouts and a 1.72 goals against average. She finished her 61-game career with six defensive saves.

The Continentals finished with a 10-6 overall record and tied for fourth place in the NESCAC with a 6-4 conference mark. Hamilton hosted a NESCAC championship quarterfinal for the third straight year and ended up at No. 18 in the final Division III Top 20 coaches poll.
