Chris Sargent joined the Hamilton College football coaching staff in August 2017. He assists defensive coordinator Josh Miller with the secondary.
Sargent was the first head varsity football coach at Arizona's Walden Grove High School, which opened in 2011. He led the program to an overall record of 17-14 and its first state postseason appearance. Walden Grove finished with a 5-5 record in 2012 with only sophomores and juniors, and Sargent was nominated for Southern Arizona Coach of the Year by the Arizona Daily Star.
Prior to directing the program at Walden Grove, Sargent was the defensive coordinator at Sahuarita High School outside Tucson, Arizona, in 2010. He has also been an assistant on the coaching staff at Alfred University where he worked with the defensive backs and punters in 2005 and 2006.
Sargent was an all-league selection at Alfred and St. Lawrence University. He was named the 2001 Liberty League Rookie of the Year at St. Lawrence, and he still holds the record at Alfred for most punt return yards in a season.
In high school Sargent was a team captain and all-state selection at Ogdensburg Free Academy in New York. He went on to receive his bachelor's and master's degrees from Alfred.
