Shane Hurd joined the Hamilton College football coaching staff as the offensive coordinator in June 2019. He coaches the quarterbacks for the Continentals.
Hurd had been the assistant head coach in charge of quarterbacks and the passing game coordinator at Cornell University since 2013. His quarterbacks were named to the all-Ivy League team in 2013 and 2016, and he has coached three of the top eight players in career passing yards in Cornell history.
Prior to joining the staff at Cornell, Hurd was the head coach at Union-Endicott High School from 2005 to 2012. His teams won five New York Section IV titles and one regional crown and boasted a .683 winning percentage in eight years. More than 30 of his players went on to play college football and two made it to the NFL. Hurd was Union-Endicott's offensive coordinator for two years and was an assistant coach in charge of wide receivers and defensive backs from 2000 to 2002.
After attending Saint Peter's Prep in Jersey City, N.J., Hurd went on to Canisius College where he was a three-year starter at defensive back. He was voted to the all-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference first team twice and made the Don Hansen Football Gazette All-America Team in 1996 when he led the Football Championship Subdivision in interceptions per game.
Hurd received his bachelor's degree from Canisius in 1998 and earned his master's degree in education from Walden University.
