Baseball visits St. Lawrence for non-conference game

The Hamilton College baseball travels to Canton, N.Y. on Tuesday, April 24 for a non-conference game against the St. Lawrence University Saints at 4 p.m.

The Continentals (14-14 overall) are fresh off a 7-5 victory over perennial powerhouse No. 6/8 SUNY Cortland at Hamilton's Loop Road Baseball/Softball Complex on Monday afternoon. Ethan Wallis '21 charged the offense with three hits and Joe Suski '21 lit up right field with two diving catches.

Matt Zaffino '21 (.382/.515/.684) continues to guide Hamilton at the plate with 19 runs batted in, three home runs, six doubles and four triples. Jarrett Lee '21 is hitting .303 with seven stolen bases. Wallis has 10 RBIs on 20 hits with a .274 batting average. Mike Borek '18 picked up the win in his first career start against Cortland, lowering his earned run average to 1.53 through 17.2 innings pitched.

St. Lawrence (3-19) split a doubleheader against Union College on April 22, winning the first game 11-9 before falling 15-1 in the nightcap. Union is second in the Liberty League standings and St. Lawrence is ninth.

The Saints' top hitters are Brendon Frank (.354/.382/.477), James Cronin (.353/.458/.500) and Evan O'Keeffe (.348/.413/.406). Frank has eight stolen bases and Cronin's on-base percentage places him top-10 in the Liberty League while leading the team with 17 RBIs. Alex Black leads the pitching staff with 21 strikeouts and a 4.78 ERA in 26.1 inning on the mound.
