Women's tennis falls to Bowdoin in NESCAC Championship quarterfinals

Continentals were in the postseason for the fourth straight year

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Bowdoin College won all five matches and the Polar Bears defeated the Hamilton College Continentals 4-0 in a 2026 NESCAC Women's Tennis Championship quarterfinal at Middlebury College Outdoor Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon, May 1.
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (10-8 overall) was the seventh seed for the championship. The Continentals were 47th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association computerized tennis rankings.
  • Bowdoin (12-6) was the second seed for the championship. The 11th-ranked Polar Bears won their fourth straight match.
 

How It Happened

  • Bowdoin claimed the team doubles point by winning the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches. The No. 3 doubles match was stopped when the Polar Bears clinched the team point.
  • Bowdoin won the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles matches in straight sets. The other singles matches were stopped after the Polar Bears recorded the fourth team point.
 

Notes

  • Hamilton was in the NESCAC championship for the fourth straight year.
  • The Continentals reached double digits in victories for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
