Women's tennis takes first loss this spring, Farah '29 a winner in singles

First-year is tied for the team lead with nine singles wins for the Continentals

CLINTON, N.Y. – Bowdoin College won four singles matches in straight sets and the Polar Bears recorded a 6-1 NESCAC victory against the Hamilton College Continentals inside Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Sunday, March 8.
 

Season Update

  • The Continentals (3-1, 1-1 NESCAC) had won their previous three matches, including a 4-3 decision over nationally ranked No. 37 Colby College on March 7.
  • No. 10 Bowdoin (2-1, 2-0) was coming off a 6-1 victory at No. 14 Amherst College on March 7.
 

How It Happened

  • The Polar Bears picked up the doubles point and won four out of four first sets at the top four singles flights.
  • Hamilton rallied and captured the No. 5 singles match, forced a split-set decision at No. 6 singles, and pushed all remaining sets but two to a single break of serve.
  • Bowdoin advanced to the national quarterfinals at the 2025 NCAA championship.
 

Notes

Mona Farah '29 is tied for the team lead with nine singles wins and has a 9-4 record in her first season with the Continentals.

"Credit to a very solid Bowdoin team today. They executed well from the outset of the match and put us on our heels. For our part, I thought we grew into the match and finished much stronger than we started. We have a young team and we're learning with each match. We will keep working hard and are looking forward to our next slate of matches."
 

Next Match

Hamilton is off until Wednesday, March 18 when the Continentals take on Coe College (9-2) in Orlando, Fla., at 8 a.m.
