INDIANAPOLIS – Hamilton College's
Nathaniel Taft '27 finished in fifth place in the consolation final (13
th place overall) in the men's 50-yard freestyle at the 2026 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships inside IU Indianapolis' IU Natatorium on Wednesday, March 18.
Taft posted a time of 20.16 seconds in the evening's finals after finishing in 20.07 seconds in the morning's preliminary heats. He was seeded eighth going into the championships with a season-best time of 19.86 seconds. Taft finished sixth in this event at the 2024 championships and seventh in 2025.
Jade Matthias '26 finished in 26
th place out of 70 swimmers in the women's 50 free with a time of 23.46 seconds in prelims. Matthias, who recorded a time of 11.27 seconds in the opening 25 yards, was seeded 23
rd in the event with a team-record time of 23.33 seconds this season. She tied for 18
th place in this event at the 2024 championships.
Charlotte Sorensen '28 ended up in 45
th place out of 64 athletes in the women's 200 individual medley with a time of 2:07.46. Sorensen had split times of 27.13 seconds after the butterfly, 58.94 seconds after the backstroke and 1:36.53 after the breaststroke. Her 50 free split time was 30.97 seconds. Sorensen, who was seeded 42
nd with a season-best time of 2:06.42 going into the meet, was making her NCAA championships debut.

Matthew Chang '28 swims in the men's 100 fly, Matthias is back in the women's 100 fly, Sorensen wraps up her meet with the women's 400 IM, and the Continentals compete in the women's 200 free relay. Hamilton's 200 free relay has placed in the top 16 in two of the last three NCAA championships. Preliminary heats start at 10 a.m. and finals begin at 6 p.m.
