Women's tennis wins by a 7-0 decision for the second straight match

All five seniors contrbuted in either singles or doubles for the Continentals

ORLANDO, Fla. – Hamilton College won all six singles matches in straight sets and the Continentals coasted to a 7-0 non-conference win against Hendrix College at USTA National Campus on Sunday morning, March 23.
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (4-3 overall) won both of its Florida matches by 7-0 decisions.
  • Hendrix (3-5), which is a member of the Southern Athletic Association, lost its third straight match.
 

How It Happened

  • The five seniors (Apsey, Cicero, Pratt, Solowey, Turtledove) led the way for the Continentals.
  • Hamilton swept the doubles point for the second match in a row.
  • The Continentals won all six first sets for the second consecutive match en route to another singles sweep.
 

Notes

  • Three players were winners in both singles and doubles.
  • Hannah Apsey '25 and Stephanie Pratt '25 are 6-1 in dual matches, 10-4 this season and 25-13 in their career as a team after their win at No. 1 doubles.
  • Apsey has a 49-27 doubles record and Hamilton's No. 1 singles player claimed her 33rd career victory.
  • Pratt triumphed at No. 2 singles for her 29th career win.
  • Shannon Cicero '25 notched her first singles victory this season as she didn't drop a game at No. 6.
  • Cicero and Muhan Cui '28 earned the win at No. 2 doubles. Cicero collected her 30th career doubles victory.
  • Kate Solowey '25 and Ally Turtledove '25 cruised to a 6-0 decision at No. 3 doubles. The match was their first as doubles partners.
  • Priyanka Challapalli '27 (No. 3), Hannah Walpole '26 (No. 4) and Samantha Rainero '26 (No. 5) rounded out the singles winners. None of them lost more than two games in their match.

Next Match

The Continentals are at Wesleyan University for a NESCAC match on Saturday, March 29 at 10 a.m.
