Women's tennis loses at Wesleyan in NESCAC quarterfinals, 5-0

Apsey '25 took the first set for the Continentals in an unfinished first flight singles match

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - No. 1 seed Wesleyan University defeated No. 8 seed Hamilton College 5-0 in a 2024 NESCAC Women's Tennis Championship quarterfinal played at Wesleyan's John Wood Memorial Outdoor Courts on Friday, May 3.

Because the match was played to clinch, it ended as soon as one team recorded five points. The Cardinals (16-0 overall) are fourth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Collegiate Tennis Rankings and first in the NCAA Region I rankings.

Hannah Apsey '25 didn't finish her first flight singles match before Wesleyan clinched the victory, but Apsey won the first set 6-3 against Caitlyn Ferrante, who is the 10th-ranked singles player in Division III. The Continentals (7-9) have been eliminated from the conference tournament by the Cardinals each of the past two years.
